Frequently Asked Questions

What Insurances Do You Accept?
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tufts Public, Tufts Commercial, Harvard Pilgrim, Point32, United Healthcare, Carelon Behavioral Health (formerly Beacon Health Options), Masshealth (Medicaid), Wellsense, Mass General Brigham Health Plan
Do You Accept Self-Pay/Out-of-Pocket or Out-of-Network?
  • Yes, at our practice, we accept self-pay clients and work with individuals who have out-of-network insurance benefits. While we understand using insurance can be helpful for many, choosing to pay out-of-pocket or use out-of-network benefits offers some meaningful advantages.
Why Some Clients Choose Self-Pay or Out-of-Network:
  • More Privacy & Confidentiality:
When you don’t go through insurance, your mental health records are not shared with insurance companies. This can provide greater privacy and more control over your personal information.
  • No Diagnosis Required:
Insurance companies typically require a mental health diagnosis to approve and cover therapy. With self-pay, therapy can be more flexible, allowing you to focus on growth, relationships, or emotional wellness—even if you don’t meet diagnostic criteria.
  • More Freedom in Treatment Approach:
Self-pay and out-of-network clients often have more flexibility in the frequency, length, and focus of sessions without restrictions from insurance policies or limits.
  • Easier Access to Services:
You may be able to start sooner, without waiting for insurance authorizations or dealing with network limitations.
Can I Use Out-of-Network Benefits?
  • If you have a PPO or POS insurance plan, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement for therapy sessions. We’re happy to provide a superbill (a receipt with all necessary codes) you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
Do You See Individuals Late in the Day or have Weekend Hours?
  • Yes, we have times available that are later in the day to accommodate you.  We also provide sessions on the weekends. Please refer to each clinician's individual page for more information regarding who and when they see individuals.
Are Telehealth or In-person Sessions Offered?
  • We are currently only offering telehealth sessions, but plan to have in-person sessions offered again in 2026.
How Do I Get Started?
  • Making the decision to commit to therapy isn't an easy one, but it's still a step. Please complete the referral form on the "request an appointment" page, and our office manager will get back to you within 2 business days.
